During September 1885, Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach started work on a two wheeled testbed for their prototype gasoline engine. It became the 'Reitwagon' (Rider's Car).

The work culminated in its first road run in November, ridden by Daimler's son, Paul, over 7.5km of rough roads.

Everything worked well with the exception of the leather saddle which caught fire from the heat of the engine.

The Reitwagon is considered to be the world's first practical motorcycle.

Hops used are German Magnum & Mandarina Bavaria.
