Conkerers

In October 1965 a group of regulars from the Three Horseshoes, Ashton, cancelled a fishing day because of the rain.
Instead they played an impromptu 'Conkers Championship' on the village green.
The first champion was Ron Marsh and they had such a great time that they made it an annual event.
Since then it has gone international and 'conquered' the world. To date over £350,000 has been raised for charity.
Hops used are Challenger & Target.
