Donald Campbell successfully stepped into the shoes of his record breaking father, Malcolm, in 1951 and he then went on to become the taker of more world speed records than anyone else.

In 1964 he became the only person ever to break both land and water speed records in the same year, when both his jet propelled Bluebird boat & car reached 276mph and 403 mph respectively.

Both records fell to him in Australia by December 31st that year.
