On Halloween night 1938, the emerging genius of Orson Welles aired his adaption of H.G. Wells' 'War of the Worlds' over the Colombia Broadcasting Network.

His graphic account of a Martian invasion caused mass panic with its realism including the programme being 'interrupted' by breaking 'live' news bulletins about an alien invasion of the United States.

Following the broadcast the news media was outraged at the horrific illusion created, but it rocket-boosted Welles' reputation in the world of dramatic art.

Hops used are English Jester and American Warrior.
