Berkhampstead born Tom Stevens left Liverpool in May 1885 to ride his Penny Farthing cycle around the world.

Travelling roughly west to east he traversed Europe and Asia to finish his first stage wheeling in Japan.

During his 13,500 mile, 20 month and 20 country tour he encountered bandits, rioters and ne'er do wells in addition to many supportive fellow cyclists.

Journeys end was eventually San Francisco, where he arrived by boat in January 1887 to a welcome befitting the first person to cycle the world.

Hops used are English Challenger, French Aramis, Slovakian Goldings and American Cascade.
