Locomotive 4472 rolled out of Doncaster works on 24th February 1923. A year later it was named Flying Scotsman and used for heading the Flying Scotsman trains between London & Edinburgh.
This iconic engine was designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, technically a Scotsman but descended from an ancient Norman family domiciled in South Derbyshire
It was the first steam locomotive to top 100 m.p.h. A few adventures and bankruptcies later it has ended it's days at York Railway Museum as a tribute to Gresley's genius
Hops used are Goldings and Green Bullet.
